My Favorite Tablescapes from 2017

Setting a pretty table must be in my DNA because I love creating beautiful tablescapes and I have tried to do that as long as I’ve had my own home.  As a blogger, I love participating in tablescape blog hops with other talented and creative bloggers throughout the year. Whatever the theme, occasion or holiday, tablescapes are a way to treat your guests to a lovely setting. I’ve browsed back through 2017 and chosen my 5 favorite tablescapes. I hope you like them.

My mother always taught me that setting a pretty tablescape was part of being a good hostess. You showed your guests that you cared about them by having everything is their proper places. That meant knowing the correct placement of the china and silverware, the glasses and napkins. A pretty centerpiece was essential. Today’s favorite tablescapes are more detailed than the ones that my mother set, but made with no less care and love for the sense of hospitality they create.

A beautiful tablescape sets the tone for the entire meal. It creates the anticipation of good food, pleasant company and a delightful experience. I think my favorite tablescapes to just that.

Romantic Valentine’s Dinner for 2

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. This romantic Valentine’s tablescape in front of the fireplace gave me the opportunity to make one of Sweet Shark’s favorites ~ red velvet cake. The sparkling rosé wine was a real treat.

The Show Goes On ~ a Broadway Theme with Mamma Mia!

I have to admit that I was a flamboozled (I think that’s a word) when Chloe of Celebrate and Decorate suggested a Broadway Themed tablescape. But this one turned out to be another fan favorite. As it turned out, I had a few girlfriends over for lunch and they got to enjoy the tablescape and the Mediterranean lunch I prepared. I loved the coastal colors and I was able to use my Cricut machine to make several decorative items.

Fall Tablescape with Turquoise and Metallics

In August, fall is just a fleeting idea here in Texas, but thoughts of fall tablescape decor were on our minds. A vase that I already had sparked the vision for my turquoise and metallic color scheme ~ one that stayed through to Thanksgiving. I love how the brightness of turquoise, a variation of my favorite aqua, complimented the rich golds, brass and copper of the metallics.

Turkey Thanksgiving Tablescape

By the time that late October rolled around, fall was not just in our thoughts, but in the cooler temperatures. It felt like fall was really going to make an appearance and bring Thanksgiving along for the ride. My Thanksgiving tablescape was inspired by all our turkeys. We have quite a collection and I love to use them in our holiday decor. Again mixing new items (metallic pumpkins and my Kirkland’s wood tray) with ones already on hand (turkeys, berries, and branches) created the look I was going for.

Christmas Santas and Reindeer Tablescape

Well, a favorite tablescape round up just wouldn’t be complete without Christmas to give some sparkle and shine to the list. Santas from our collection mixed with a bit of snowy garland and a few new reindeers created the special holiday tablescape that I love to share. 2017 again used golds, silvers and whites in the color scheme but in a softer look than 2016.

  1. Oh! I LOVE your Valentine’s Day tablescape… sooo pretty! I do like red and gold together. Funny, I tried to stay all white and silver for Christmas, but the red started creeping in then it went whole hog with the addition of finding some red plaid linens {you know how that is!!!}. I’m back to my all whites now with the latest window tablescape, but now the pink is creeping in. Yes, it’s NEVER too early to start decorating for Valentine’s!!! <3

    1. Barbara, the tablescape will lead you in the right direction. Follow you creative “gut” and you’ll be the most satisfied with the outcome. I love pink creeping in anywhere.
