As usual, I go to Pinterest for ideas for these weekly round up posts. I was not disappointed in what I found. I have a Pinterest Board called Fall Home Decor Ideas that will be another resource for you, not just for fall decorating, but for all year.

You will find wonderful photos to inspire you with lots of valuable information.

What Fall Decorating Accessories Should You Look For?

First, here are some guidelines you can use for fall accessories. I think fall is one of the easiest seasons to decorate. The elements are natural, organic, easy to find (your own backyard) and carry over from year to year. If you stick to neutral shades, your accessories will seem fresh year after year.

Bring the Outdoors In

  • Don’t wait for the leaves outside to turn before you begin to transform your home from summer to fall. Let nature inspire your interior decor. Gather fallen branches, acorns, twigs, and pinecones to create stunning centerpieces or adorn your mantle.
  • Incorporate rustic wooden elements, like decorative trays, baskets, or coasters made from reclaimed wood, to infuse warmth and earthiness into your spaces.

Use Cozy Throws and Pillows

  • When the temperature drops, there’s nothing quite like snuggling up with a soft and inviting throw blanket.

In late summer/early fall, Turkish towels are my go-to throws. They are lightweight, but still evoke a cozy feel either indoors or outside on a cool evening.

  • Opt for warm, deep-hued throws with rich textures like cable knit, chenille, or faux fur. Don’t forget to swap out your regular pillows for ones featuring autumn-inspired prints or deep, warm colors like burnt orange, deep red, and golden yellows.

If your weather is turning cool and you want something with more weight, this camel-color buffalo plaid with fringe throw is a great option.

Here are a couple of pillows I just bought for our living room. I mixed a fall floral in light brown with a caramel-colored solid with fringe in a heavy linen.

Candlelit Ambiance

Candles can instantly create a warm, cozy atmosphere. Select candles in fragrances that evoke the spirit of fall, such as spiced pumpkin, cinnamon apple, or smoky vanilla. Place them in decorative holders, trays or baskets to add an element of elegance to your space while infusing it with a soft, flickering glow.

Tablescapes with a Twist

Elevate your fall gatherings with enchanting tablescapes that celebrate the season’s bounty. Arrange dried cornstalks, mini pumpkins, and gourds as centerpieces. Embrace the warmth of candlelight with elegant taper candles in metallic holders, and consider using earth-toned table linens to complete the look.

Use the Sense of Nature Indoors

Give your walls a touch of fall elegance with nature-inspired wall art. Framed botanical prints, landscape paintings or even DIY creations like pressed leaves can add an instant autumnal charm to any room.

Wreaths with a Twist

While traditional wreaths are undeniably charming, consider a unique twist this fall. Craft wreaths from materials like dried wheat, burlap, or even autumn-hued fabric scraps. Hang them on your front door to welcome guests with a fresh take on seasonal decor.

Metallic Accents

Introduce a touch of warmth to your fall decor with metallic accents. Copper, gold, and bronze accessories can be seamlessly integrated through vases, trays, or even metallic-finished pumpkins. These gleaming touches will beautifully complement the warm tones of autumn.

I always love new inspiration and ideas for adding accessories to our home every season. I thought you might also. So here are 19 ideas for adding fall accessories to your home this year.

Let’s welcome the season of changing leaves and cozy everything with open arms! Happy decorating!

NOTE: Pumpkins! Nothing says fall more than this iconic gourd, but in early fall I tend not to use pumpkins or use them sparingly in neutral colors – white, cream, oatmeal, mushroom. I like to wait until October before adding them in orange, rust, or darker colors. All you have to do is add them to your existing early fall decor.
