Every season has a beginning and an end. With Easter behind us, it’s time to return our home decor to strictly spring. That is a fairly easy task to do, and not nearly as big an ordeal as packing up our Christmas decorations. Here is how to quickly transition from Easter to spring home decor.
If you are like me, you first decorated for spring back in March, then a few weeks later, added your Easter decorations to your spring decor. Now, we can easily reverse that task.
Now is the perfect moment to breathe new life into your home with fresh spring decor. The transition from Easter to spring decorating doesn’t have to be overwhelming or expensive – in fact, it’s an opportunity to simplify, refresh, and let your space reflect the lightness of the spring season.
If you’ve ever wondered how to quickly swap out those Easter touches for a look that feels fresh and inviting all the way to summer, you’re in the right place.
These tips will guide you through easy steps to update your home, so you can embrace the beauty of spring without the stress of a total overhaul. A few smart swaps and thoughtful touches can make a big difference, allowing you to enjoy a spring refresh.
With a focus on light textures, soft colors, and nature-inspired accents, you’ll have a look that’s crisp, inviting, and ready for all those sunny spring days ahead – before the heat of summer decends upon us.
Before we jump into summer decorating, it’s nice to have a transition period, a little breather. Mastering this transition means you’ll enjoy a home that feels effortlessly stylish and seasonally on-point.
Saying Good-Bye to Easter Decor
It doesn’t have to take long to say good-bye to all the Easter decor.

- Easter banners and garland
- Easter wreaths
- Easter pillows
- Easter signs
- nests that are obviously Easter

- Easter table decor

Steps to Packing
Before I share my suggestions for how to pack up your Easter decorations, here is how I decorated a few spaces in our home for spring and Easter several weeks ago,
Here is our entry decorated for Easter.

Here was my Easter mantel. It transitioned from early spring to Easter.

Here is our coffee table dressed for Easter.

Here are those same areas after removing the Easter decorations.
Here is the entry, ready to be decorated for its post-Easter spring look. I left the spring wreath, a woven tray, and a galvanized watering can.

Here is what the mantel looks like now after I removed all the Easter decor. It took just a few minutes.
I left the chinoiserie jars with faux pink tulips and the hot pink painted bottles. I added three pale pink painted bottles with more faux tulips. This is a short-term decorating effort. I will be adding or switching out elements.

Here is the coffee table after removing the Easter decorations. It will soon get the post-Easter treatment.
I left the stack of coffee table books in blue tones, the woven tray and ceramic containers with faux greenery.

Here are my suggested steps for transitioning from Easter to spring. While you are packing up your Easter decorations is the time to evaluate what items you want to keep out for the rest of the spring season.
- First thing, clear off a space for packing up your Easter decor. I first cleared off our dining room table by removing my Easter centerpiece and my pink and white check tablecloth.
- Bring in your plastic bins that held your Easter decorations. I didn’t use all our Easter decorations this year, so I still have some bins with items in them. This is a good time to reorganize for next year.
- Take apart any centerpieces, vignettes, or other arrangements.
- Bring in your Easter decorations from the living room, kitchen, entry, or other spaces to your packing area.
- Depending on how much Easter decor you have, you may have to do this step in “batches”.
- Group types of decor (bunnies, nests, eggs, tableware) so that they can be packed together.
- Begin wrapping like items with tissue or bubble-wrap. Put like items in the same bin, taking care not to over weigh the bins.
- Repeat this process until all your Easter decorations have been carefully packed away.
Some items may be on the fence between spring and Easter, such as nests. If the items are very pastel, it’s probably best to pack it away. If the item is more neutral, then it will probably work in your decor for a few more weeks.
Ideally, after removing all the Easter decor, you can leave the-pre-Easter spring decor and get ready to style your home for late spring.
What Items to Keep for Transitioning from Easter to Spring
As you are packing up your Easter decor, look for items that you can keep for a few more weeks. If your Easter decor had a rustic or earthy vibe, you are ahead of the game for transitioning to spring.
- early spring flowers, such as tulips, may have already been discarded. This is a great time to use faux tulips to keep the spring vibe going for several more weeks. Our summer flowers have not yet bloomed, but feel free to mix in faux pink peonies, hydrangeas, or Gerber daisies.
- a spring wreath that leans toward natural materials, such as a grapevines base for a more natural look.
- any baskets and woven trays in natural materials
- ceramics, such as chinoiserie
- candles in natural colors
- wood bowls, lanterns, or tiered trays
You can now bring in more neutral items to balance the spring pastels.
Natural Elements to Add to Your Spring Decor

Incorporating natural elements into your spring decor is a refreshing way to celebrate the season’s sense of renewal and bring the outdoors inside. Nature-inspired touches not only add beauty and texture, but also create a calming, organic atmosphere that feels both inviting and relaxing.

- Start by introducing greenery – both real and high-quality faux plants work wonders. Potted plants and even fresh boxwood topiaries can instantly lift a space, while bowls of lush moss or vases filled with tall branches (like pussy willow or forsythia) add striking texture and color. Natural materials are key to achieving an authentic look.
- Greenery looks great in vases that are made of an organic material, such as stone, ceramic, or metal. If you are using metallics, opt for warm ones, such as brass or copper.
- If you’re looking for a low-maintenance option, succulents, sansevieria, and spathiphyllum are ideal and thrive in various lighting conditions.
- Incorporate wooden accessories with visible grain, stone accents, woven baskets, rattan, bamboo, and linen textiles for warmth and tactile interest.
- If your time and budget allow, install light linen or cotton curtains to maximize natural light and create an airy feel.
- Add earthy elements, like a linen or burlap table runner for everyday decor.
- For table settings, use organic napkin rings made from twine or twigs, nature-inspired place cards, and simple table runners in natural fibers.
- Balance any pastels by mixing them with more neutral colors, such as white, cream, wheat, taupe. Have at least twice as many natural materials as you do pastels.
- Willow branches from your yard or faux cotton stems.
- Tone down the color palette of florals and patterns for a softer feel.
- Use pillows or throws in softer shades, such as French blue or navy, moss or sage green, or purple
- Layer jute or sisal rugs for a lighter feel underfoot.

Small Details Matter
Don’t overlook the power of small details:
- display decorative bowls of fresh seasonal fruits
- arrange bird nests or ceramic birds on shelves
- use botanical prints or nature-inspired artwork
- include the sounds of nature playing softly in the background
By thoughtfully blending plants, organic materials, earthy colors, and nature-inspired accents, you’ll create a spring home that feels harmonious, vibrant, and truly alive with the spirit of the season.
Follow your personal preferences. For me, that means leaving some of the pastels up, but mixing in a majority of neutrals.
Then in a few weeks, I can phase out the pastels and leave the neutrals.
I love to use items I already have on hand, but if you need a few accessories to give your home a little spring boost, try one of these I found. They are “soft” spring items that will see you through until summer decor time.

- These beautiful spring cache pots that come in several colors. Buy one color or mix it up.
- This pretty bird design on a blue candle. Great for a birthday or Mother’s Day gift.
- These gorgeous coffee table books: Ranunculus and Peonies (these are both on sale right now) with a touch of pink on the covers. Confession – I bought both of these. Sitting down with a glass of Chardonnay and browsing through these books will calm your mind and fill your heart with beauty. They become colorful spring decor. I recently bought the Hydrangea book, which has a blue cover.
- The prettiest set of spring placemats. Perfect for a spring or Easter luncheon.
- This pretty linen and cotton designer stripe pastel pillow. Actually, I think the colors will work in summer and early fall, too.
- This sweet flower pillow. So delicate.
- This pretty pink jar for all you pink lovers.
- These cool candleholders in three colors. Fun and funky.
- This awesome mirror comes in multiple sizes and several colors. For bedroom, bathroom, hall, or entry. Perfect for a nursery or child’s room, too.
- This springtime design artwork in three colorways and several sizes. Pick one or all three for a gallery behind a sofa or buffet.
