Whether you like a simple mantel or one full of fall decor, you’ll find some inspiration for fall mantel decorating here. I looked for ideas that offered a variety of styles, colors and “ingredients”. Remember that you can always combine elements from different mantels if you keep a few design practices in mind:

Current Fall Color Options
The big story this year is a move away from bright pumpkin orange toward deeper, moodier, more collected shades. According to Homes and Gardens designers are reaching for richer, more complex hues like chocolate brown, wine reds, and deep greens rather than the predictable burnt-orange-and-rust palette.
Here are the shades to feature on a fall mantel this year:
Wine reds and oxblood. Burgundy has been building all year and is deepening into wine and oxblood tones that add warmth without the brightness of a true red. Beautiful in a garland, velvet ribbon, or a cluster of berry stems.
Chocolate and warm brown. Warm browns in chocolate, hazelnut, and mahogany are the season’s standout shades. Bring them in with wood-tone candlesticks, a vintage bowl, books or dried branches.
Olive and forest green. This fall’s greens are moving darker and richer, toward forest and bottle tones rather than sage. Perfect for eucalyptus, magnolia leaves, or a trailing garland.
