Pretty Pink Tulip Tablescape for Valentine’s Day
What is your favorite color for Valentine’s Day? What is your favorite flower for Valentine’s Day? My favorites are pink and tulips. That’s what I used recently for a girlfriends’ Valentine’s dinner party. Here is my new pretty pink tulip tablescape.

This year I embraced a soft, whimsical aesthetic with a pretty pink tablescape using tulips as the focal point.
Pale pink shades are my favorites – think blush and bashful. Imagine a setting overflowing with the delicate charm of blush-toned blooms and the inviting warmth of candlelight.

I was excited to host a gathering of special girlfriends using Valentine’s Day as the reason for the party. This group of ladies have been gathering several times a year for several years. Many of us have known each other for years.
We always have fun, whenever and wherever we gather. Like most girlfriends, we share family, joys, concerns, and the best new restaurants, shops, and vacation news.
Nice looking group of ladies, right?

After everyone arrived and had a glass of wine, we gathered in the living room for our “secret Valentine’s gift exchange”, white elephant game.
Do you like that big pink candle with three wicks? It is brand new and I couldn’t resist it.

We had fun opening gifts. Even Nola got in on the fun.

After all the gifts were opened (and some taken away!), we visited and put the finishing touches on our meal.
Designing this Pink Tablescape with Tulips
Here are the easy steps I took to create the table decor for the party. You can follow along and put your own custom spin on it.
Step 1 – Pink Tablecloth
To emphasis the pink theme, I first added a brand new pretty pink and white check tablecloth. I loved the tassel trim.

This tablecloth comes in multiple colors and multiple sizes. This size is 55 X 120 inches.

Step 2 –Begin the Centerpiece
As the base for my centerpiece I used a rectangle brass tray that is 31 X 10 inches. I bought it at a local store called Mary Cates several years ago and have used multiple times for different seasonal table and home decor vignettes.

Here is a similar brass tray that would work beautifully in any setting. It’s slightly smaller at 24 X 8 inches.
Step 3 – Using Rose Bowls
I knew when I planned this pink Valentine’s tablescape: that I would use rose bowls filled with pink tulips.
I gathered five rose bowls from my collection and placed them on the tray in a zigzag pattern.
I found mine over time at estate sales and antique malls, but you can buy rose bowls online.

Step 4 – Adding Candlesticks
Since this occasion was at nighttime, it called for candlelight. At first I added my tall skinny gold candlesticks and my battery-operated pink candles. These candles come in different colors and make entertaining so easy.

However, I thought the gold candlesticks were too tall so I switched them to some of my crystal candlesticks – another think that I have collected over the years.
TIP: Don’t ever hesitate to change things out that don’t work, whether on a table or in your home decor.

Step 5 – Adding the Place Settings
Since the check tablecloth can have a casual vibe, I wanted to dress it up a bit.
I began by adding my vintage lace place mats. These are a set of 12 that I bought at an estate sale years ago. They are almost a tea-stained color and some have a few tears, but I love their vintage look (See Ladies Vintage Valentine’s Tablescape.). The price was great, too.
Next I added our china – Eternal by Lenox and our sterling silver – Buttercup by Gorham. I love mixing casual elements with elegant tableware.

Step 5 – Adding Glassware
This Valentine’s tablescape called for elegant glassware. Out came a water glass and a wine glass. They are different patterns.
TIP: Don’t hesitate to mix glassware patterns. This practice creates more interest. It also allows you flexibility in purchasing and using glassware.

Step 6 – Adding the Pink Flowers
Obviously, you should choose the type of flower – roses, tulips, hydrangeas – that you like best. I chose my favorite pink tulips. I made a trip to Trader Joe’s and picked the ones that best fit my vision for the tablescape.
I removed the leaves and cut off the long stems to fit in the rose bowls.
TIP: Cut the stems on the diagonal to let in more water.

Step 7 – Add Embellishments
Add extra serving pieces for practicality. I added out vintage salt and pepper shakers and a cut glass butter dish.

Step 8 – Add a DIY Element to your Pink Tablescape
I encourage you to make one thing for your tablescape. This small steps gives a personal handmade touch to your table.
I added another element of pink to a practical item for the table decor – a cute easy DIY project – pink heart-shaped air-dry clay napkin rings.

This napkin ring adds that a pop of color and interest to the place setting. They add a sweet touch to this table decor.

Step 9 – Add an Unexpected Garnish
It’s always fun to add something unexpected to your table. I thought that the centerpiece needed a little more color and interest.
How about a little something sweet?

I scattered pink Hersey’s kisses around the rose bowls for fun.

Another Valentine’s dinner party that brought friends together! Simple steps can lead to a pretty table where friends can gather.

Just beautiful, Carol! Such a pretty table with your beautiful centerpiece. Your crystal rose bowls and tulips are so pretty! Love your pink and white tablecloth, too. You always do such a lovely job with everything you do, We appreciate you so much.
Thank you so much for your sweet comment, Mary-Ann. Too bad the tulips are gone now. But the rose bowls are still on the table.
