More Fall Decorating Ideas

Good morning fall. It finally feels like fall here in Dallas. So today I’m sharing more fall decorating ideas.

I knew I wasn’t finished decorating for fall last week.  A few things just didn’t get done. I had more fall decorating ideas I wanted to use.

And I didn’t use some of the cool things I bought in Roundtop.  So another trip to Hobby Lobby ~ gosh, I wish that store was closer to my house ~ and another trip to Central Market, and I was finally ready to finish decorating the house. And now I can share the results with you.

I really wanted to use the cloche that I bought at Roundtop.  I had this little cup from a tea set that my mother-in-law gave me a few years ago.  Orange polka-dots, how perfect for autumn?

Some faux (I love that French word, sounds so much more sophisticated than “fake”.) fall berries, some walnuts and acorns. There you have another little vignette (another French word). It’s just the right size for my little table in the living room.

Also, in our living room, I needed a little something for the coffee table.  Rather than invent something new, I just repurposed this everyday centerpiece. You can read how I made it here.)

I found some scrap fabric that had a fall color scheme and would change the centerpiece from spring/summer to fall.

I bought some new styrofoam balls at Joann and covered them with the fabric. I kept the burlap and twine balls and added the new fabrics. Now I have a new centerpiece that fits the season.

If you read my Fall Decorating Inspiration from a couple of weeks ago, but might remember this cute project using mason jars.

A reader, Jennifer, decided to also use it as inspiration and sent me this picture of her project.  She used a strawberry jam jar from Costco. Great Job, Jennifer!

I wanted another arrangement for the vassilier in our dining room. I had a galvanized tub and several plastic pumpkins on hand. With a little paint an burlap, I made a new arrangement.

I just didn’t want anymore orange,  so I used white paint to transform the orange pumpkins. (You can see how I did that here.) I put some newspaper in the bottom to fill up the tub, placed the pumpkins in, and filled in with Spanish moss and some faux berries.  Then I made a bow from wired burlap ribbon.

I love wired ribbon (also called French ribbon) because you can really make the loops on your bows and the tails move and stay where you want them.  A popsicle stick always comes in handy.

And now I have another little arrangement.

And finally, I had to include our front door.  I bought this door arrangement last year, bought some additional ribbon to match, and wrapped a door hanger from Joann.

We’ve had these scarecrows, named Jack and Zack, several years ago.  I added a couple of mini-hay bales from Hobby Lobby and a couple of those orange plastic pumpkins that I decided not to paint.

And now I ~ am ~ done.  I have two weeks to totally enjoy before it’s time to switch out for Halloween.

I hope that you have a delightful week and your weather is fall-ish.

  1. Thanks for including my mason jar. I sent it to school with my daughter as a little teacher gift and they really appreciated it. Made one for our house filled with peanut M&Ms. mmm, mmm, yumm!
